unplugged, one

stefana mcclure

Funk, 2007, type on Teflon, 13.75 x 13.75 inches

Stefana McClure turns text into image. Distillation of time and obliteration of information characterize her drawings and sculptures. Her films on paper are minimal compositions of blurred lines consisting of the superimposition of the subtitles of an entire movie. All of her work involves translation, transposition and reconstruction.  Born in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, she lives and works in New York. Her work is currently included in the traveling group exhibition Leaded: The Materiality and Metamorphosis of Graphite organized by International Art & Artists.  On view from January 25-March 30, 2008, her work will be featured in the exhibition Blown Away at the Krannert Art Museum and Kinkead Pavilion, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
